Handicaps - The Chronicle Isa: The tragedies of despair and hardship for families.
Based on the recent drama of Saint-Malo, where a mother aged 44 years killed his 8 year old girl, severely spastic cerebral Isabelle Barbosa returned to the issue of support to families of disabled children, even of adults. Everything is really done to support those involved in daily life of a disabled person or as some prefer to call them, disabled or handicapped? (September 26, 2010)
Marc Weidemann reminded us in the information of 24 August, Youtele.TV on the terrible tragedy that occurred while in Saint-Malo. A mother aged 44 is deliberately killed his 8 year old girl, very severely disabled with cerebral palsy.
Faced with this latest such tragedy, questions on support and assistance provided to families facing such situations heavy and difficult, that represent the daily care and assistance to a disabled person, are again mentioned. Indeed, we note sadly that all is not yet adapted, far from it! The seats in the "institutes" are very weak compared to many requests for investments. The wait can also be a deterrent for families who are faced with situations of great distress, both psychological and physical or moral, to maintain a child or disabled relative at home. Sometimes the task is too heavy ... The case of infanticide in this mother is a terrible example.
It is also important to remember that single parents are often completely alone, facing the handicap of a child or a parent. Never forget that it's actually 365 days and 24 hours on 24, they are immersed in the difficulty of disability ... not always easy to manage short, medium and especially long term. It is therefore very important that monitoring and support are put in place immediately, but a wider range of support solutions is also proposed. It is the policy to address the issue, despite Secretary of State devoted to this problem. The solutions are lacking, and perhaps would there be solutions side of the long term, that could be rehabilitated in a supporting role. Checks of personal services, tax-free for hiring assistants daily life, are probably also a new angle of vision to consider ...
It is really unthinkable that some families must choose investments very far from their homes, even bordering on our borders or even outside our country, to find specialized institutions, corresponding to the real need of disability, as in Belgium , for example!
A great deal of thinking and risk-taking decision at the political level, seems to be done to support and assist these families in order not to leave them alone in distress. Associations well try to replace the state but, again, volunteers or public subsidies are missing, at a time when the generosity of citizens is often sought.
He would simply continue the implementation of the carers, medical and psychological aid to home, but the amplitudes and not enough hours 1-2 hours per week. Aid if only relieve short little families, while auxiliaries employed on hourly "work" would surely be more effective. It is also imperative to create more room in specialized institutions (in 2009 there were 12 million disabled people in France, all disabilities combined). We are talking about human resources and structures, so they would probably not that complicated to implement. Soon, we will return at greater length on the other difficulties faced by disabled people.
As recalled in his Youtele.TV information, the government could probably offer greater support to aid associations and create new jobs in this sector, vital to design a real solidarity and civic society.
If you, yourself, faced with difficult situations in relation to disability, please, not only to bring us your stories in comments, but you can also (as I found on the contacts page) 'm send practical issues, which I will try to answer as well, if you provide concrete assistance.
